Changes to the configuration of a virtual machine are detected. A snapshot of the file system of the virtual machine is made when the configuration is changed. The stability of the virtual machine is monitored. If the virtual machine is unstable, the snapshot of the virtual machine corresponding to the current configuration is deleted. Changes to the configuration may be detected by monitoring the management port of the virtual machine, by detecting the machine being rebooted or shut down or by detecting a change in a configuration management file. The stability of the virtual machine may be determined by detecting unusual activity on a service port of the virtual machine, by detecting that a rollback has been performed, by detecting that the virtual machine has not been activated or by detecting error messages in a log file. The deletion of the snapshot may be confirmed by a user. |
