Method for operating an LED assembly

The method involves supplying LEDs (I) with constant and pre-determined power via a power source (D). The LEDs are connected with the power source via switching elements (E) e.g. MOSFETs, in a switching condition. The LEDs are separated from the power source during a switch-off condition. The switching elements are switched on and off by a control circuit (F), which is operated with clock frequency larger than 100 Hertz such that only a portion of the LEDs is already switched-on and the other LEDs are switched on in two switching conditions successive to each other.
