<p>A blocking device for blocking a work-piece (37) on a cutting-off machine comprises a case (2), a stem (3) having a longitudinal axis (X), a presser element (34) associated to the stem (3), movement means for pushing the stem (3) out of the case (2), stop means (30, 32) for preventing the stem (3) from further exiting from the case (2) when the stem (3) has reached an extended position in which a portion of stem having a predetermined length (L) is out of the case (2), the case (2) housing rotating means (12, 24, 25) which are active in the extended position for rotating the stem (3) about the longitudinal axis (X), such as to bring the presser element (34) into contact with the work-piece (37).
