The mat has two folding parts (11) located on two sides of a central part (12) of the mat. The parts are assembled with the central part around a folding axis to allow the fold and the closing of the mat, and opening of the mat in a raised position. The parts have a dimension equal to half of that of the central part. The parts has a peripheral compartment (14) e.g. pockets, to receive a raising element e.g. covers (18-22) or towel (17), on a raising face. The central part has a central compartment (16) to receive a plate (19) or one stacking of plates on the raising face. The place mat is made of flexible or rigid materials e.g. fabric, paper, plastic, paperboard, leather and bamboo.
