PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an adapter capable of preventing a plug of an electric apparatus not compliant with a standard of a rated voltage from being erroneously connected to a power receptacle of the rated voltage, and a connection device using the same. SOLUTION: The adapter 2A includes: a case 20 having blade insertion holes 21a-21c into which first blades 11a-11c of the plug 1 compliant with the standard of the 250V rated voltage opening on a surface thereof; a blade receiver electrically connecting and mechanically holding the first blades 11a-11c housed in the case 20 and inserted in the blade insertion holes 21a-21c; and second blades 22a-22c projecting from an inside of the case 20, electrically connected to the blade receiver, and compliant with the standard of the 125V rated voltage, wherein a projection 23 to be inserted in a recess 12 provided in the plug 1 is provided on the surface of the case 20 where the blade insertion holes 21a-21c are open.
