PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To obtain a stator for a rotary electric machine, capable of reducing the diameter of a stator frame, and capable of decreasing the number of components with the load distributed. SOLUTION: The stator for the rotary electric machine includes iron core fastening members 2 provided on the outer periphery of a stator iron core 1, spaced apart from one another at predetermined intervals in the circumferential direction for fastening the stator iron core in the axial direction; holding rings 3 provided on the outer periphery of the stator iron core, spaced apart from one another at predetermined intervals in the axial direction, and fastening the stator iron core toward a center thereof from above the iron core fastening members; ring-shaped inner frame members 5 protruded from the inner surface of a frame that encloses the stator iron core, and spaced apart from one another at predetermined intervals in the axial direction; and elastic supporting members 6 fixed to each of edges in the axial direction of the inner frame members that are adjacent to one another, and fixed to the outer peripheries of the holding rings at the middle in the axial direction, or fixed to each of edges in the axial direction of the holding rings that are adjacent to one another, and fixed to the inner peripheries of the inner frame members at the middle in the axial direction.
