PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image reader that ensures the quality of an image in dual scan reading. SOLUTION: A rotating body 310B having a cleaning member for cleaning a reading glass 302 is disposed in a second CIS system read portion 102B of an automatic document reader. The cleaning member contacts the reading glass 302 by allowing the rotating body 310B to be rotated so that paper powder or the like is removed therefrom. A spring 51 and a damper 52 are disposed on a side distant from the reading glass 302 of the second read portion 102B so that the second read portion 102 B is pressed in a direction forwarding to the rotating body 310B. This allows vibration generated in the second read portion 102B to be absorbed by the contact of the cleaning member along with the rotation of the rotating body 310B. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
