<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an image forming apparatus for properly determining a residual amount of toner in a toner buffer and controlling toner supply by using a magnetic lead switch even when an electric motor is close to the magnetic lead switch in an image forming apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: When a period of a control pulse signal of a nearby motor is T', the image forming apparatus detects outputs from the magnetic lead switch at the period of T=T'/2. The image forming apparatus reads a detection signal one period before (S3) and a detection signal two periods before (S5) when detecting an on-signal (S2).
