The device has a delaying unit (4) for creating a stabilizing stage at an intermediate torque consumption level between a first torque consumption level and a second torque consumption level, during decreasing phase of a strike lever (1) of a striking mechanism of a timepiece. The delaying unit has a delay surface (40) that is formed by a cylindrical sector whose axis merges with that of a strike wheel (30) of the striking mechanism or by a flat surface tangential to the cylindrical sector. An independent claim is also included for a striking mechanism comprising a strike wheel.
