Ionising radiation detector

The detector has conductor tubes (10-1-10n) arranged in a parallel manner, and containing pressurized gas mixture containing boron fluoride. Conductor wires (14-1-14-n) are arranged at the center of the corresponding tubes and are polarized with respect to the corresponding tubes. Each tube is divided into electrically insulated longitudinal sections i.e. longitudinal cells (12-1-12-m) having same cross-section. The sections of the tube are formed of a grid of electrically connected strips. A connection unit connects the sections of the tube to a polarization and detection circuit (18).
