<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a hygroscopic breathing device which does not need a commercial power supply and a solar cell and besides, can recover the hygroscopic capacity of a moisture absorber, regardless of weather. <P>SOLUTION: This hygroscopic breathing device comprises (1) a hygroscopic respirator 6 which is filled with silica gel 5 capable of recovering a moisture absorbing capacity by heating, (2) an air heater 4 which heats air 15 by heat to be transmitted from the wall surface of a tank 1 which houses a transformer body 100a and an insulating oil 9, and (3) an air inlet/outlet opening 7 which makes the air 15 come into and go out of the atmosphere. In addition, the air heater 4 and the hygroscopic respirator 6 communicate with each other in irregular order between a conservator 2 installed in the tank 1 and the air inlet/outlet opening 7. Further, the air inlet/outlet opening 7 includes a barrel 11 which is open upward and a projection 12 is formed on the upper side of the barrel 11. Besides, over the projection 12, an almost hemispherical shade 8 with an inside diameter which is larger than the outside diameter of the barrel 11, is set in place.
