<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for driving a display device capable of controlling luminance without changing the amplitude of a video signal. <P>SOLUTION: The method is for driving the display device that has a display element having a driving circuit and a current drive type light-emitting section, the driving circuit having at least a driving transistor with a gate electrode and a source/drain area and a capacitance section. The method includes a step in which a writing process is performed such that while a prescribed driving voltage is applied to one of the source or drain area of the driving transistor, a prescribed fixed voltage is applied to the gate electrode, then, a gate electrode is brought into a floating state, thereby a current corresponding to the value of a voltage held by the writing process in a capacitance section, which holds the voltage of the gate electrode for the source area of the driving transistor, flows into a light-emitting part via the driving transistor to make the light-emitting section emit light. The luminance of light emitted by the light-emitting section is controlled by adjusting the length of a period for which the fixed voltage is applied to the gate electrode of the driving transistor in the writing period. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
