<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To inform a user of exchange time for a process cartridge even if an amount conveyed by a development roller of the process cartridge to be exchanged varies, the exchange time conforming to a corresponding amount which corresponds to the amount conveyed by the development roller. <P>SOLUTION: The exchange time for a process cartridge 7 is stored in a RAM 12b on the basis of the reflection density of a patch which is detected by a density-detection part 85 of a conveyed toner amount-detecting part 11b, the time conforming to the reflection density of a patch which is stored in a ROM 12a.
