摘要 <p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an annular weir which is installed in a tundish for continuous casting in order to control the fluidization of molten metal poured into the tundish, prevents the short circuit flow of molten metal, further suppresses high speed flow, and further, eliminates such a risk that the molten metal is scattered to sorrondings even if its fixing to the tundish is separated and it is floated-up. <P>SOLUTION: The annular weir 11 has a columnar shape, and includes a cavity 13 of a truncated cone shape at the inside. In the cavity 13, the upper and lower parts are opened, and molten metal can pass through therein, and the diameter D<SB>1</SB>of the opening 13a at the upper face and the diameter D<SB>2</SB>of the opening 13b at the lower face satisfy D<SB>2</SB>>D<SB>1</SB>. The annular weir 11 is located directly below the long nozzle of the laddle and is fixed to the tundish 12. The molten metal poured from the laddle to the tundish 12 is caused to flow into the cavity 13 of the annular weir 11, and reversed by being struck against the bottom of the tundish, and is elevated from the opening 14a at the upper face while being narrowed.
