PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a fixing apparatus that secures adhesion between a belt and a guide member, and an image forming apparatus equipped with the fixing apparatus. SOLUTION: The fixing apparatus includes a fixing belt member (45) rotated around an axis extending in the width direction of a conveyed recording medium, and heating a toner image on the recording medium to fix the toner image to the recording medium; a guide member (80) having a heating layer (82) generating heat by electromagnetic induction, to guide the travel of the fixing belt member in contact with the inner surface of the fixing belt member ; an electromagnetic induction heating unit (50) arranged along the outer surface of the fixing belt member, and generating a magnetic field to induction-heat the guide member; and a sliding member (70) provided inside the fixing belt member and forming a nip between the sliding member and a pressing rotation body (44) in contact with the outer surface of the fixing belt member. Both the electromagnetic induction heating unit and the guide member are inclined toward an upstream of the nip when viewed in the conveying direction of the recording medium rather than a position substantially facing the pressing rotation body with the sliding member placed in between.
