PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a cleaning control method in which faulty ejection can be efficiently solved by accurately detecting the nozzle recovery condition after execution of cleaning. SOLUTION: An inkjet printer 1 performs an ink suction operation of an inkjet head 13 as a first cleaning step when receiving a regular cleaning command from a host device 31. After end of the ink suction operation, a nozzle check is performed after a waiting time T passes. A second ink suction operation is performed if a faulty ejection nozzle is detected. It is waited for the waiting time T to pass again, and thereafter the nozzle check is performed. In regular cleaning, the ink suction operation, waiting for the lapse of the waiting time T, and nozzle check are repeated until the number of faulty ejection nozzles becomes not larger than a reference number, or until the number of times of the nozzle check becomes a maximum number of times.
