Disclosed are a method of determining cutting information, a method of manufacturing strip-shaped polarizing sheets using the same, a method of manufacturing an optical display unit, a strip-shaped polarizing sheet, and an original polarizing sheet capable of improving the yield with simpler processes. Cutting positions in the width direction (A2) of an original polarizing sheet (MP) when the original polarizing sheet (MP) is cut along the longitudinal direction (A1) thereof are determined on the basis of the number of defects counted at a plurality of points in the width direction (A2). With this, the cutting positions can be determined such that areas having a large number of defects are not included in the cutting width, resulting in higher yields. In addition, the cutting positions can be determined using simple processes such as counting the number of defects at a plurality of points in the width direction (A2).
