PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To perform image recording of high quality without image defects by stably sticking a plurality of kinds of recording media with various thicknesses to a recording medium holding cylinder, suppressing wrinkles, and uniformly drawing and drying. SOLUTION: An inkjet recording apparatus includes an inkjet head which ejects ink towards the recording medium; a drum which has a holding means for holding a front end of the recording medium set on the outer peripheral surface and a suction means for sticking the recording medium to the outer peripheral surface, and which holds the front end of the recording medium by the holding means and rotates to transfer sticking the recording medium to the outer peripheral surface; and a suction force weak region forming means which forms a suction force weak region where only a part in a peripheral direction of the drum outer peripheral surface is weakened in suction force of the recording medium than other parts over the entire width of the drum in a manner to move relatively to the recording medium transferred while stuck to the outer peripheral surface following rotation of the drum.
