PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a high output density DMFC (direct methanol fuel cell) with reduced electrode resistance on a cathode in interface contact with a hydrocarbon film by easing drying-out of the cathode. SOLUTION: In the direct methanol fuel cell, a filling rate of fluoropolymer of a fine porous layer 4A of an anode 12 is set up to be approximately 5-25 wt.%, and migratory nature of water from the anode 12 to a cathode 14 is raised by using polysulfone, carboxylated polystyrene, or nylon as a binder of the fine porous layer 4A. Further, the cathode 14 is eased from drying-out by containing low equivalent weight ionomer, and a moisture-absorbing material. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
