<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide composite material having high tensile strength, bending strength and a flexural modulus in one direction, and a method of manufacturing the same. <P>SOLUTION: The carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide composite material is obtained by impregnating a carbon fiber reinforced carbon composite (C/C composite material) with melted metal silicon. The carbon fiber of the C/C composite material is a pitch based carbon fiber and the pitch based carbon fiber is oriented in one direction in the carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide composite material. The bending strength of the carbon fiber reinforced silicon carbide composite material in one direction is ≥500 MPa and the flexural modulus is ≥100 GPa. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT |
