<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an optical receptacle and an optical module that are capable of reducing effect of noise and that excel in mechanical strength or a long term reliability as well as having high dimensional precision. <P>SOLUTION: The optical receptacle X includes a fiber stub 10 having an optical fiber 12 and optically connected to a plug 50 having an optical fiber 52, a sleeve 20 having a through-hole 21 for inserting at least part of the plug 50 and at least part of the fiber stub 10, a sleeve case 30 for housing at least part of the sleeve 20, and a holder 40 for holding the fiber stub 10. The holder 40 is provided with a holding part 42a that bears a holding function of the fiber stub 10.
