The air bag (1) has mounting elements (2,3b) for mounting the air bag on a vehicle body, where the latter mounting element is so arranged that it is based on the non-bloated and flat dispread position of the air bag. A backfill is provided for the former mounting element in a direction perpendicular to main extension direction of the air bag. A section (11) of the air bag, which extends on a side of the latter mounting element averted to the former mounting element, is folded in shapes of a rolled fold by a folding. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an air bag.
