<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To achieve stable and precise detection within a limited detection area. <P>SOLUTION: A position measurement sensor includes: a distance measurement area 10 constituted of a plurality of plane coils 1 arranged side by side on approximately the same plane, a scanning means 22 which successively switches operations of detecting changes in distance between respective plane coils 1 and a conductor by a distance detection means 32; and a position operation means 34 which collects changes in distance detected in the plurality of plane coils 1 by switching the operations of detecting changes in distance from plane coils to the conductor, depending on a detection object to be brought into contact with the distance measurement area 10, by a distance detection means to calculate the position of the detection object on the basis of the changes in distance.
