The invention relates to a laser sensor meant to non-contact determine the distances, position and movement of different objects, destined to robotic, medical/biomedical, virtual reality type applications, to man-computer interface systems and to multimedia applications. According to the invention, the sensor consists of a system for generating at least a laser plane (3) making a constant angle with the horizontal plane (2), a video camera (9) which acquires two images, a first image (10) being acquired with the laser plane active, while the second image (11) - with the laser plane inactive, and an electronic system for image processing which extracts the projection (8) of the first laser onto the immediately neighbouring objects by means of an algorithm for comparing the two images (10 and 11). |
