Disclosed is a process for preparing an immunogenic composition, comprising combining: (i) an antigen component comprising a viral surface antigen and a surfactant; and (ii) a fatty adjuvant components, to give a composition in which the weight ratio of the fatty adjuvant to the surfactant is less than 1000:1. Further disclosed are immunogenic compositions comprising: (a) an antigen components comprising a viral surface antigen and a surfactant in the form of an antigen/surfactant complex; and (b) a fatty adjuvant component, wherein the weight ratio of the fatty adjuvant to the surfactant is less than 1000:1.
