<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an airport surface monitoring method and system that falsely improves the azimuth resolution using a secondary radar, reduces incorrect detection of a plurality of close targets, and generates a track (integrated track) of high accuracy, even when the primary radar has such an azimuth resolution that the plurality of targets are close to each other and are recognized as one target. <P>SOLUTION: In the airport surface monitoring method, target positions obtained from the primary radar and target positions obtained from the secondary radar for receiving reply waves from transponders mounted on the targets are integrated, and the accuracy of the tracks of the targets which are variation of the target positions with time is improved. When the inter-target distance between two target positions detected by the secondary radar is smaller than the resolution of the primary radar in two target positions detected by the secondary radar, echoes by the primary radar of the targets existing at and around the intermediate coordinate of the inter-target distance are thinned out, the target positions by the primary radar are detected, and the tracks of the targets are obtained. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
