PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out an optimum passing control of a strip by a meandering suppressing means at a downstream side when detecting abnormal meandering by a meandering suppressing means at an upstream side. SOLUTION: In the continuous processing line of the steel band where a front end of a next strip 2 is welded to a terminal end of a strip 2 to continuously carry out processing, there are provided a plurality of the meandering suppressing means 5A-5D for suppressing the meandering of the strip, a meandering detecting means for detecting the meandering amounts of the respective meandering suppressing means and a meandering suppressing controlling means 32 for changing the control mode of the meandering suppressing means 5B-5D at the downstream side in response to whether or not an abnormal meandering state is detected by the meandering detecting means when passing a welding point. The meandering suppressing controlling means 32 permits meandering suppressing control when passing the welding point at the meandering suppressing means 5B-5D at the downstream side at a normal time that is not the abnormal meandering state, and interrupts the meandering suppressing control when passing a welding part at the meandering suppressing means 5B-5D at the downstream side at the abnormal meandering state.
