PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a liquid seal valve enabling a sufficient seal pressure to be obtained without interfering with open/close operations. SOLUTION: A valve element 6 is constructed from two sheets of valve plate 7 arranged at a space from each other. Two ring-shaped sheets 14 are provided on the inner circumferential surface of a valve box 4. The sheet 14 is tilted relative to the flow path direction. A pipe path is open/closed by rotating the valve body 6. A liquid is charged in and discharged from a space surrounded by the inner circumferential surface of the valve box 4 and two sheets of valve plate 7. When closing the valve, the two sheets of valve plate 7 are brought into press-contact with the sheet 14 by moving them in such a direction that they are spaced apart from each other. When opening the valve, a contact pressure with the sheet 14 is reduced by moving the two sheets of valve plate 7 in such a direction that they get closer to each other.
