PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To carry out proper control in response to a generation factor when pre-ignition is generated. SOLUTION: An ECU 40 includes a pre-ignition detecting device 36. When pre-ignition is detected, by using that generation factors of pre-ignition are different in response to engine speed, control responding to respective generation factors is carried out on the basis of the engine speed. Namely, in a low rotation region, control for reducing self-ignition of oil being a generation factor of pre-ignition is carried out. In a middle rotation region, control for reducing thermal face ignition in an electrode part of an ignition plug 24 is carried out. Alternatively, in a high rotation region, control for reducing thermal face ignition in a pocket of the ignition plug 24 is carried out.
