PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a plant-protecting material having smaller reaction force. SOLUTION: The plant-protecting material protects plants from tread pressure by persons, vehicles, or the like. The plant-protecting material includes a base member and an upper member. The plant-protecting material has the following structure: the base member is formed by connecting base tread pressure parts formed by connecting a plurality of projections via ribs; the base tread pressure part supports load from above; a base connection part as a connection part with the upper member is set up on the upper part of the base tread pressure part; a space surrounded with the base tread pressure part is formed as a base water-permeable part and functions as a place for being charged with soil and making rainwater permeate the ground; the upper member is structured by connecting the ribs; the cross-sections of the ribs are formed as an upper tread pressure part; a space surrounded with the upper tread pressure part is formed as an upper water-permeable part and functions as a space for growing up the plants and also functions as a place for making rainwater permeate underground; a connection part connected with the base tread pressure part is formed at the inside surface of each of the respective ribs forming a square shape where four of the upper tread pressure parts are connected, so as to make it as the upper connection part, and the upper connection part is connected to one of the base tread pressure parts.
