<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide certain 1-substituted-2,3,4,5-tetrahydro-3-benzazepine derivatives of formula (I), that are modulators of the 5HT<SB>2C</SB>receptor. <P>SOLUTION: Compounds of the present invention are useful for the prophylaxis or treatment of 5HT<SB>2C</SB>receptor-associated diseases, conditions, or disorders, such as obesity and related disorders. The 5HT<SB>2C</SB>receptor is a validated and well-accepted receptor target for the prophylaxis and/or treatment of 5HT<SB>2C</SB>mediated receptor diseases and disorders, such as obesity, eating disorders, psychiatric disorders, Alzheimer Disease, sexual dysfunction, and disorders related thereto.
