APPARATUS AND METHOD OF RECOVERING VOLATILE ORGANIC SOLVENT PRESENT IN EXHAUST

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an apparatus and a method of recovering a volatile organic solvent contained in exhaust, capable of enabling an adsorbent to exhibit its adsorption capability to the maximum extent and of improving efficiency in adsorbing a solvent.

SOLUTION: The apparatus (20) of recovering a solvent recovers a volatile organic solvent present in exhaust by causing its particulate adsorbent (activated carbon 10) to alternately repeat an adsorbing operation and a desorbing operation. The adsorbent disposed in an adsorption tank is divided into a plurality of sections by a plurality of partitions (5). A plurality of concentration detection means (6) are each attached to each of the plurality of sections for detecting the concentration of the volatile organic solvent remaining in the exhaust, immediately after its passing through the adsorbent layer (11) disposed in each of the plurality of sections. In addition, a plurality of clocks (7) are provided for measuring the respective break-through time having lapsed from the beginning of the adsorption until the concentration of the volatile organic solvent reaches the break-through concentration detected by the concentration detection means (6) each attached to the plurality of sections respectively.
