The cam has a unit (1) and another unit connected with each other by pressing, form-fitting, welding, soldering and/or sticking processes and partially made of different materials. One unit comprises a cylindrical recess (10) and forms a core or a body, and the other unit forms a part of an outer contour of the cam. The units are designed such that a continuous cavity is formed between the units. A hollow space is arranged between a tip of the outer contour and the recess. The former unit is made of low carbon steel or plastic, and the latter unit is made of bearing steel i.e. chrome steel.
