The method involves actuating a fan e.g. motor fan (7), as a function of a signal (12) over a control device such that operation noise of an electrical refrigeration compressor (2) is partly masked by operation noise of the fan and the electrical refrigeration compressor is perceived less acoustically. An air conditioning apparatus is controlled over another control device. The signal is transferred from the latter control device to the former control device. The fan is controlled dependent on respective fan speed of the air conditioning apparatus. An independent claim is also included for a control device for actuating a fan in a motor car.
