<p>The system (100) has a position determination unit (102) for determining a current position of a vehicle. A navigation database (104) comprises digital map data of a traffic route network e.g. highway network, and associated local lane information. A control unit (103) is designed such that start time, end time and/or strength of a support action (105) e.g. steering intervention, are controllable depending on the lane information. A foresighted sensor device (101) determines quality value of lane course, and the control unit controls the lane information based on the quality value. The lane information is selected from a group of traffic route category, number of lanes, course, width, type or color of the lane, carriageway markings of the traffic route, connection information between the lanes, whether unification, elimination, division and/or branches take place from the lanes on the traffic route or whether running over or a change is allowed to the lane. An independent claim is also included for a method for operating a driver assistance system.</p> |
