The method involves driving the motor vehicle by an internal combustion engine (2), and arranging an automatically controllable clutch (5) between the internal combustion engine and a gear box (3) for scheduling a start of the internal combustion engine. The fuel is brought into a starting cylinder for starting the internal combustion engine, and the fuel fresh gas mixture formed in the starting cylinder is ignited.
