PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an aluminum fin material for a heat exchanger having superior workability, corrosion resistance and durability of hydrophilic property, and capable of improving defrosting and re-frosting preventing performances of the frosted heat exchanger. SOLUTION: This aluminum fin material 1 for the heat exchanger includes a base 2 made of aluminum or aluminum alloy, a backing treatment layer 3 formed on a surface of the base 2 and formed of at least one of a corrosion-resisting coating 3a made of inorganic oxide or an organic-inorganic complex compound and a hydrophobic film layer 3b made of a hydrophobic resin, and a hydrophilic treatment layer 4 formed on a surface of the backing treatment layer 3 and formed of a film layer including a mixture of silica porous fine particles 4a having an average particle size of 0.1-10μm and a pore diameter of 1-50 nm and a water-soluble carboxyl group-containing polymer 4b, and an attachment amount of the silica porous fine particles 4a in the hydrophilic treatment layer 4 is 10-10,000 mg/m<SP>2</SP>.
