A method and an apparatus for monitoring optical power are disclosed by the present invention, which is related to optical communication field. The accuracy for monitoring optical power is improved and the range of optical power monitoring applications is extended. The invention includes: measuring spread spectrum after optical signal monitored in each channel is filtered, obtaining real measured spread spectrum of said optical signal monitored in each channel; forming multi-kind of combination of optical signal power; performing calculation to each combination of optical signal power according to transfer function denoting said filter processing, obtaining a theoretical spread spectrum corresponding to said optical signal monitored in each channel under the combination of optical signal power; comparing multi-kind of theoretical spread spectrums obtained with the real measured spread spectrum, finding the theoretical spread spectrum which is closest to said real measured spread spectrum; determining each hypothesis optical power in the corresponding combination of optical signal power to be the corresponding real optical power of optical signal monitored in channel. |
