A parameter configuration method and a first network element device are disclosed, which belong to the field of communications technology. The method includes: the first network element device selects an Internet Protocol (IP) address, which is different from the IP addresses of other network element devices, from an IP address group, or the first network element device randomly selects an IP address from the IP address group and determines that an address conflict with other network element devices does not occur (101); the first network element device configures the selected IP address as its own IP address (102); wherein, said other network element devices and the first network element device use the IP addresses of the same version. The first network element device includes a selection module and a configuration module. The present invention enables the automatic configuration of IP addresses in the case of no address allocation server. |
