An improved scoop (50) for a glassware forming machine is disclosed which has an upper inlet end (52) into which gobs (20) of molten glass fall vertically under the influence of gravity from a gob feed and shear mechanism. The scoop has a lower outlet end (54) from which the gobs are directed at an angular trajectory for delivery to an ensuing gob delivery apparatus. The scoop has a curved portion (56), located between the inlet and outlet ends of the scoop, which is defined by a Bezier curve. The scoop (50) has a cross-sectional configuration that is generally concave, and has a width at the outlet end which is smaller than the largest diameter portion (40 or 42) of gobs (20) entering the inlet end of the scoop.
|
