PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an oriented polyester film which contains polyethylene naphthalene dicarboxylate as a main component, has a crystal structure, which has not been obtained conventionally, consisting mainly of aβ-crystal structure exhibiting a high melting point as polyethylene naphthalene dicarboxylate crystal structure in the oriented film, and is excellent in heat resistance, and to provide a method for producing the same. SOLUTION: The oriented polyester film containing polyethylene naphthalene dicarboxylate as a main component is characterized in that the intrinsic viscosity of the film is 0.65 to 1.50 dl/g, and the main crystal structure isβ-crystal structure.
