PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To detect a defect by using a three-point bending testing device of wood and a laminated veneer material, and to measure simultaneously a bending Young's modulus and a shear modulus. SOLUTION: A bending deflection shape measuring device incorporated into the three-point bending testing device includes a movable noncontact displacement gage 4, its sending device 5, a sending amount control device 6, a sending amount measuring device 7, a data recording device 8 and a data analyzer 9. The sending amount measuring device 7 utilizes a digital scale, and uses highly-accurate bending deflection shape data acquired therefrom, to thereby detect defects of the wood and the laminated veneer material. The defects include a knot or cross gain of the wood, or adhesion failure or excessive lap joint of the laminated veneer material. The bending Young's modulus and the shear modulus of the wood and the laminated veneer material are measured simultaneously by using the same device. COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT
