The camera (1) has a memory unit (3) storing a control program (4). A data interface (5) produces a data connection (6) with an external database (7) i.e. world-wide accessible Internet server. A data processing unit (2) e.g. processor, transmits camera-specific information to the database, and loads program sections (8, 9) from the database into the memory unit. The processing unit integrates the loaded program sections in the control program. A control element is formed for navigation in Internet by a link connection (13). An error analysis tool is formed in the processing unit. An independent claim is also included for a method for remote maintenance of a thermal image camera.
