To highly precisely adjust a position of a headrest automatically and to an appropriate condition with simple configuration, when the distance between the headrest 43 and a head 49a is within a certain range, a detecting circuit 20 of a headrest position adjustment device calculates an estimated height-direction center position of the head 49a based on sensing signals from a plurality of sensing electrodes 11 to 15. Based on the calculated value, the detecting circuit 20 detects the height position of the head 49a. When the distance between the headrest 43 and the head 49a is not within the certain range, the detecting circuit 20 detects the height position of the head 49a based on sensing signals from at least the sensing electrode 11 located at a lowermost position and the sensing electrode 15 located at an uppermost position among the plurality of sensing electrodes 11 to 15. |
