PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a release polyester film which has good oligomer suppressing properties and antistatic effects and is suitable especially as a surface protective film when used for the surface protection of various optical sheets especially for a large-sized display of a large area. SOLUTION: A surface layer formed of a coating liquid which contains an acrylic modified polyester resin having a glass transition temperature Tg at 40-60°C, an antistatic agent, and a wetting regulator as constituents and in which the content satisfies the following formulas: 5≤A≤40 ...(1), 1≤B≤10 ...(2), and 57≤C≤93 ...(3) [wherein, A is the content (mass%) of the antistatic agent; B is the content (mass%) of the wetting regulator; and C is the content (mass%) of the acrylic modified polyester resin] is formed on at least one side of a polyester film.
