A method and apparatus for establishing a circuit switched link of a WiFi handheld equipment are provided by the embodiments of the present invention. Said method is applied to 3G router and includes the following steps: the 3G router receives a call request message sent by the WiFi handheld equipment, wherein the call request message is sent according to the SIP signaling format of VOIP (101); the 3G router establishes a VOIP channel with the WiFi handheld equipment according to the call request message (102); the 3G router extracts the number of the called party from the call request message (103); and the 3G router initiates a CS voice call to the called party according to the number of the called party, so as to establish a CS voice channel with the called party (104). The method and apparatus provided by the embodiments of the present invention enable the WiFi handheld equipment to have CS voice function and support voice communication on the premise of not adding any hardware cost, thus improving the service experience of WiFi users and increasing the income of operators.
