<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To more effectively display an image, using a simpler operation. <P>SOLUTION: A calculation section 662 calculates a feature quantity of a partial image that is a part of an image of image data supplied from a signal acquisition section 94 and a feature quantity of a comparison image, resulting from excluding the partial image from the image of the image data supplied from the signal acquisition section 94. A comparison section 663 compares the feature quantity of the partial image with the feature quantity of the comparison image to detect conspicuous region from the partial image. A zoom processing section 113 generates image data for displaying the detected conspicuous regions magnified at a prescribed zoom magnification. The zoom processing section 113 supplies the generated image data to a display section 96, to make the display section 96 display the zoom image.
