PURPOSE: A method and apparatus for operating a graphic menu bar and a recording medium using the same are provided to operate a large number of graphic items within a restricted touch area by regulating the relation between a touch area and a display block. CONSTITUTION: A graphic menu bar(200) displays all functions of a portable electronic device. The graphic menu bar is displayed at the bottom of a touch screen(300). First 5 graphic items of the graphic bar is displayed on the screen. The portable electronic device performs a function corresponding to the graphic item. An operation interface for the functions of a touch screen is displayed.
