<p><P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a recording device and method for initializing the recording device in which a recording medium is continuously held by a conveying roller even when the recording device is initialized. <P>SOLUTION: The method for initializing the recording device includes an encoder positioned between the conveying roller 11 and a motor and a condition determination unit 14 for determining the presence or the absence or the position of the recording device. When the recording device is powered on, it is determined whether the recording medium is disposed at the predetermined set position or disposed at a recording standby position waiting for the start of recording by a recording part. Based on the determination result, the rotation direction of the conveying roller 11 is determined for driving itself and the original position of the encoder is detected by a sensor and the original position of the conveying roller 11 is specified. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2011,JPO&INPIT</p> |
