PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a vehicle approach sound control device capable of effectively generating a notice sound in response to a state for enabling the outside of the vehicle to notice that a vehicle approaches. SOLUTION: A sound volume of the notice sound is arithmetically operated, adjusted and controlled in a level corresponding to a characteristic of a power source of a preceding vehicle and a travel state of one's own vehicle based on the characteristic of the power source of the preceding vehicle and the travel state of the one's own vehicle such as a travel speed of the one's own vehicle, road noise, the size of one's own vehicle noise and an inter-vehicle distance. Thus, when the preceding vehicle is a vehicle for traveling only by a gasoline engine or a diesel engine and the inter-vehicle distance is a preset value or less, the notice sound of the one's own vehicle is adjusted to a low level since a travel sound of the preceding vehicle is large. When the preceding vehicle is a vehicle by a hybrid system and an electric automobile, the sound volume of the notice sound is adjusted and controlled in a sound volume level corresponding to the characteristic such as the preceding vehicle is the vehicle by the hybrid system or the electric automobile and the travel state of the one's own vehicle.
